Using Salt Responsibly One Recipe at a Time

Thoughtful recipes crafted in mind for those with varying sodium level needs.

    Did You Know?

~American’s typically take in 3,400 mg of sodium per day.

~According to the USA FDA guidelines the Dailey sodium guidelines is less than 2300 mg of salt per day.

~For those with Meniere’s Diseases, the guideline suggests no more than 2000 mg of salt per day.

~Also according to the American Heart Association the ideal limit is 1500 mg of salt per day.

~However according to the Cleveland Clinic, those with Vasovagal Syncope are suggested to have around 5000mg of sodium in their diets.

With any reduction of sodium in one’s diet please have discussions with your primary physician to ensure the healthiest dietary adjustment needed. And if your significant other still requires sodium, like I medically do, then do them a favor and hand over the salt shaker.

Low Sodium Diets are not possible for everyone, even though that’s not typically acknowledged when discussed online or on television. That said cooking a meal for everyone in a household with different sodium needs is 100% doable.

All it takes is some scratch cooking, patience, prepping time, and to use salt sparingly one recipe at a time.
